Yu Kurosaki Senko SG2 Bunka 170mm
Yu Kurosaki (黒崎 優)
A Master from Takefu Village, Echizen
a talented artisan in his forties, has quickly risen to prominence as one of Japan's leading knife makers, garnering top awards and widespread recognition for his hand-forged knives, particularly for his distinctive Tsuchime and Suminagashi finishes.
This SG2 by Yu Kurosaki showcases his stunning "Senko" Tsuchime pattern on an exquisitely crafted stainless cladding. The blade is meticulously ground towards the edge, with the jigane, including the entire Tsuchime pattern, polished to a mirror-like finish before revealing the SG2 steel core, which is heat-treated to 63 HRC for exceptional edge retention. These knives have long-lasting sharpness and are thin behind the edge, so they glide through even dense vegetables like carrots and potatoes. And they don't rust, so they're easy to maintain. The blade's ultra-thin edge and beautiful tapering ensure a smooth and precise cutting experience. Blades in Kurosaki's "Senko-Ei" series are also distinguished by a slightly more pointed tip.
