Makoto Tadokoro began his journey in the world of kitchen knives at just 16 years old. Under the legendary sharpener Morihiro-san in Sakai, he honed his craft for 15 years before launching his own brand, Marushin.
In 2010, he took the next step—becoming fully independent and establishing Tosa Knife Studio Tadokoro Hamono. With over 28 years of experience, his sharpening techniques, rooted in centuries-old Japanese tradition, have earned him high acclaim both in Japan and internationally. His passion for knives is unmatched, and his expertise is trusted by top craftsmen, renowned chefs, and even his own masters.
For the Ginsan Series, Tadokoro-san collaborates with another master: Satoshi Nakagawa, who forges the blades before they undergo Tadokoro-san’s meticulous 30-step grinding and sharpening process. The result? Absolute masterpieces.
We've carefully selected the Tsuchime (hammered) version of this series—an extremely rare find that truly showcases Tadokoro-san’s exceptional skills. These knives are paired with a beautiful rosewood handle, blending tradition with elegance.
The Gyuto (牛刀, “beef knife”) is the Japanese take on the classic Western chef’s knife—a versatile, all-purpose blade for meat, fish, vegetables, and more. With its balanced profile and adaptability to various cutting techniques, the 210mm Gyuto is the go-to size for both professional chefs and home cooks alike.
If you’re looking for a knife that embodies generations of craftsmanship, precision, and artistry, this is it.
